Behavioral health; on the other hand, examines how habits impact overall physical and mental wellbeing. Behavioral Health supports and encourages healthy behaviors such as eating, regular exercise, sufficient sleep and a positive mindset. In contrast, behavioral health disorders result from maladaptive behaviors that negatively impact physical or mental conditions. Examples of behavioral health disorders include, substance abuse, eating disorders, sex addiction, gambling. Recovering from a behavioral disorder or mental a mental health issue requires commitment, and support.
Behavioral medicine; as a specialty, is focused on the recipocal relationship between the overall well-being of a person and human behavior. It promotes a philosophy in which each individual is responsible for initiating activities in many different areas of health.
